KR has established a test and certification center specifically for medium to small sized vessel engines and equipment, which is the first of its kind in Korea.

KR devoted itself to the development of green-ship equipment technology by setting up its large-sized TCC in May 2015, and through the signing a series of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with marine equipment manufacturers to carry out technology research. The large-sized TCC was the very first of its kind in the world.

As a part of KR’s efforts to develop green-ship technology, it is now installing additional equipment in the TCC, including vessel engines of 300, 500, 1,500 kW output, a medium to small sized engine test bed which includes a dynamometer and emission flow characteristic test facility.

KR is to combine an international official test and certification system for engine and equipment with countermeasures to mitigate the emissions of vessel engines, which is a pending issue around the globe.

Dr. B. S. Park, Chairman and CEO of KR said “We will provide a top quality test and certification center to support Korean businesses for medium to small sized engines and equipment, and to effectively enhance their international competitiveness.”
