DSME won two VLCCs newbuilding order



Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering announced on 1st Aug that it signed the newbuilding contract of two VLCCs with BW Group from Singapore. 


 



The signing contract ceremony was held on 29th July in Singapore, where Mr. Jung, Sung-lip, CEO of DSME and Mr. Carsten Mortensen, CEO of BW Group were attended. 


 



The 318,000 dwt VLCCs is expected to be built at Okpo shipyard and delivered in 2018. 


 



Mr. Jung, Sung-lip, CEO of DSME said, “Even though DSME is suffering from financial crisis and economic downturn, many ship owners are still see our ability to sustainable development, technology and reliability between management and labor and award us shipbuilding contracts like this. “ 


 



Meanwhile, DSME announced that the newbuilding contract of LNGC with an Asian ship owner was changed for building LNG-FSRU with a new contract price. 


 



Up to date, DSME has won newbuilding contract of ten vessels including two LNGCs, two COTs and two special-purposed vessels this year and the amount of newbuilding contract price reaches 1 billion dollars.
