DSME to deliver the 10th drillship

Daewoo shipbuilding & Marine Engineering announced on 23 Aug. that it delivered a drillship to the world’s largest offshore drillship company, Transocean successfully. The building contract for the drillship was signed in 2013 to amount to USD 600M. 


 


The specification of the drillship is allegedly DSME-1200 that was developed by DSME itself and it is the biggest one among the drillships built by DSME. It has 238m in length, 42m in width and 19m in height and it can drill by up to 12km at the depth of 3.6km.


 


Meanwhile, four drillships have been completed to be built out of nine that is expected to be built by DSME in 2016. Its clients for building drillships are Sonangol and INPEX besides Transocean.
